If you are new here, you may not have seen “Our Story-Life on Vaca,” the video we made to introduce our new lifestyle. We are a couple in their 60s slow traveling the world, learning and connecting while helping others see that it is indeed possible to grow and recharge life’s experience. We are living proof it can happen! We appreciate your support by clicking subscribe to our channel so we can share the wealth of knowledge with the world,
From 4000 ft of living area and over 4 acres of land and all the trimmings, we have simplified to traveling with one backpack and one carry-on each. Admittedly one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. Did we get it right? I’m pretty happy now. There’s some tweeking to be done for sure, but living in 330 square feet has not been a problem. Best thing is it can be cleaned from top to bottom in about an hour! Drop off at the trash chute and recycling bin down the hall and voila, free to enjoy the day exploring.
If you are thinking about downsizing, here are a few tips to consider. A minimalist lifestyle offers several advantages:
- Reduced Clutter: Embracing minimalism means decluttering your life—getting rid of excess possessions and focusing on what truly matters. This can lead to a more organized and visually calming environment.
- Financial Freedom: By minimizing consumption and prioritizing essential purchases, you can save money. This financial freedom allows you to allocate resources to experiences, investments, or activities that bring more value and fulfillment.
- Increased Focus: Minimalism encourages prioritization and focus on what’s important. With fewer distractions from material possessions, you can concentrate better on personal growth, relationships, and passions.
- Less Stress: A minimalist lifestyle can reduce stress levels. Fewer possessions mean fewer things to manage or worry about, leading to a more relaxed state of mind.
- Environmental Impact: Consuming less generally leads to a smaller environmental footprint. By being more conscious of what you consume, you contribute positively to sustainability efforts.
- Enhanced Quality of Life: Simplifying your life often leads to a higher quality of life. You may find more time for hobbies, relationships, self-care, and personal development.
- Mindful Consumption: Minimalism encourages thoughtful and intentional consumption. Rather than mindlessly accumulating possessions, you become more aware of what you bring into your life, focusing on items that truly add value.
- Freedom and Flexibility: Minimalism offers a sense of freedom—freedom from the need to constantly chase possessions or conform to societal expectations. It also grants flexibility to adapt to changes more easily, as you are less tied down by material possessions.
Ultimately, the benefits of minimalism vary from person to person, but many find that simplifying their lives brings about a sense of clarity, purpose, and contentment. Since we chose to start this blog, a You Tube channel, and do all the work ourselves, with a bit of encouragement and support from our kids, the stress level is different, but not necessarily less.
As we explore the globe around the world this year (2024) we’ll document things and let you know an honest opinion of what we learn. We appreciate our followers and ask that you share with anyone who needs to hear this message.
